Research abstract

The Air Force's capacity to remain preeminent in near-peer conflicts is fundamentally dependent on the proficiency and adaptability of its Airmen and Guardians. The Air Force's transformation through Agile Combat Employment (ACE) and the cultivation of Multi-Capable Airmen (MCA) necessitates a system that can standardize, validate, and authenticate skills and competencies across the force.??????? Presently, the Department of the Air Force (DAF) faces a critical challenge: a decentralized credentialing system that impedes the full realization of personnel qualifications. á This decentralized approach severely limits operational readiness and talent management, undermining the goals of the DoD Digital Engineering Strategy. Air Education and Training Command (AETC) recognizes this challenge and the absence of a system within the DAF that can consolidate and document individual credentials, KSAOs, and provide instantaneous validation of qualifications for decision-makers. á The lack of such a system impairs the DAF's capability to effectively implement ACE and MCA initiatives, which are integral to personnel readiness and mission success. It hampers the ability to mobilize force components swiftly and with the precise expertise required, a shortfall that is acutely felt in ACE scenarios where rapid, flexible, and exact deployment is paramount. á Recruiting talented Airmen only becomes more difficult with the absence of a cohesive credentialing platform capable of conveying evolving professional development, which is vital in a landscape where adaptability and continuous learning are critical.á A solution is of crucial importance to ensuring that learning and skills gaps are identified and addressed based on validated and standardized data. Without a solution, the DAF risks a continued disconnect between strategic objectives and operational capability, which will significantly affect mission sustainment and effectiveness.
