Research abstract

The proposed effort delivers a manufacturing readiness level (MRL) 8/9 autonomous aerial logistics platform managed and directed by FAA tested fleet management & deconfliction software, and ready to avoid objects and take-off, navigate, and land without GPS based on USSOCOM funded GPS-Denied technology. Rhoman Aerospace is partnering with Workhorse electric UAV and ANRA Technologies to deliver a logistics C3 solution that delivers essential next-level autonomous capabilities by combining tested commercial and defense technologies. Workhorse is a publicly traded electric truck and UAV manufacturer, and has a full production line in-place for UAV manufacturing. ANRA Technologies is a World-leader in fleet-wide UAV platform management and autonomous routing deconfliction systems and has worked with the FAA through multiple R&D contracts to shape the future of commercial autonomous airspace management. Rhoman Aerospace delivers vision-based GPS-Denied navigation systems, autonomous precision landing systems, and detect-and-avoid systems to USSOCOM and the US Air Force. By combining USSOCOM funded GPS-Denied vision-based navigation, detect-and-avoid and autonomous landing systems with MRL 8/9 commercial UAV and fleet+autonomous deconfliction software, essential Logsitics-C3 solutions can be delivered, at a scalable level. Within 4-months, the proposed effort integrates and demonstrates USSOCOM funded GPS-Denied vision-autonomy (navigation & detect-and-avoid) solutions on the scale-manufacturing Workhorse UAV, managed by ANRA TechnologiesÆ fleet management & deconfliction software. In the following 6-months, the system will be updated to receive over-the-air navigation software updates, and a two-drone, GPS-Denied flight-route deconfliction will be demonstrated. The system will be installed on a second UAV, a sample two-drone mission will be input to the vehicles, the estimated position of each UAV is determined by the Rhoman system and sent to the ANRA Fleet Management System, and the two flight-routes will be deconflicted.
