Research abstract

To address the NavyÆs need for to access maintenance data with limited or no reachback to home station, RedShred proposes to develop a new system, the Aircraft Battle Damage Repair: Essential Archive for Maintenance (ABDREAM), based on RedShred's core platform, the RedShred Query Language, our ALDDOM (Authoritative Lineage Determination for DOcuments with Metadata) project for determining document authoritativeness and lineage, our Content Transformation Pipeline (CTP) project, neurosymbolic computing, synchronization software, databases, containerization, and copy protection. Specifically, the innovation in our unique system design, integration of existing technologies, and novel use of existing components will enable the system to provide access to maintenance data with a complete and comprehensive archive of documents not only to teams performing Aircraft Battle Damage Repair (ABDR), but to Fleet Support Teams (FSTs) and Fleet Readiness Centers (FRCs). As a result, this system offers to overcome such deficiencies caused by poor communications and limited knowledge and bandwidth, which directly address the NavyÆs requirements to provide access to maintenance data for ABDR. In Phase I, RedShred will develop a data synchronization pipeline, integrate in querying ability with synchronization to enable searching across documents, unsilo data, build a complete archive of documents, integrate data ingestion with document databases, integrate data authoritativeness and lineage determination into archive construction, improve data security and copy protection, scale up the synchronization to handle multiple databases, and demonstrate the feasibility of ABDREAM by moving information and documents around into synchronizing, queryable, full linked databases. In Phase II, RedShred plans to further mature and harden the software, including investigating pursuing Authority To Operate (ATO), expanding the number of databases that ABDREAM will connect to, and developing repair plans with less human intervention, thereby speeding up the time to develop such plans in the first place.
