AEGIS Combat System Optimization through Advanced Modeling of Software-Only Changes

This effort will build on previous SBIR Phase I innovation to effectively apply automated software test and analysis to the FA-18 AWL in support of accelerated Weapon System integration and deployment.  The ultimate objective of innovation in automated software testing is to deploy weapon system software upgrades as quickly as possible.  In a high-end fight, the US Navy will identify deficiencies or gaps in their warfighting system-of-systems which need to be updated, tested, integrated, certified and deployed rapidly.  The methodology by which this will be made possible is to automate the testing and analysis of development code in a system-of-system virtual test environment.  The approach is enabled with model-based engineering of the system-of-systems and automated test and analysis derived from the models.  IDT has successfully demonstrated this approach with the AEGIS weapon system and will evolve the capability to apply it to the FA-18 weapon systems through this SBIR effort.
