Research abstract

The health of active duty airmen is crucial to national defense and the health of our military veterans is crucial to controlling medical costs to the U.S. Government. Medications are the cornerstone of patient care plans for all patients regardless of age. With medications come side effects, adverse interactions, and non-adherence making real time monitoring crucial to ensuring treatment success.  The lack of integrated medical information technology platforms, especially in regard to patient-facing, and patient driven solutions, has introduced unnecessary risk into the healthcare system. Moreover, as patients increasingly seek more control over their own healthcare, they must have accurate and timely information available in order to make optimal decisions. Within our MTF outpatient pharmacies in particular, there is a need to decrease patient wait times at the MTF, reduce the number of calls to pharmacy staff, reduce interruptions, and provide an agile, responsive pharmacy system to support the delivery of high quality health care to beneficiaries. The main objectives of the Dosecast project are:             A. Decrease outpatient pharmacy wait times for active duty personnel and beneficiaries at the MTF             B. Reduce the number of disruptive calls to the MTF pharmacy staff to help improve productivity and patient safety, and             C. Provide an agile, responsive system which supports the delivery of high quality health care to beneficiaries. The Dosecast MTF platform is a highly integrated mobile and web App that brings great value and convenience at the finger-tips of beneficiaries, smoother operation for Pharmacists, remote patient monitoring and patient safety for Medical Providers and improved outcomes at less costs to MTF Pharmacy Operations.
