Research abstract

Breathing air quality can have a profound impact on an individual’s health. A variety of common volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and some air contaminants have been shown to cause varying health effects ranging from headaches to stroke, heart attack or cancer. Individuals have varying air quality exposure through personal choices at home and occupational hazards at work and the sum of these exposures represents an individual’s Total Exposure Health (TEH). The ability to monitor TEH will aid development of control measures to protect and optimize health and performance for occupational and personal needs. Cornerstone Research Group Inc. (CRG) proposes to develop a Modular Total Exposure Health Sensor Pod System that provides the Air Force with a solution that is small, portable and adaptable to end user needs and application.
