Research abstract

In Phase I, ADA demonstrated key design and manufacturing aspects and thus, the feasibility of the aforementioned, liquid reserve batteries technical discriminators. We demonstrated the ability to rapidly (<1 s), homogenously and absolutely activate our LIBSS reserve battery and deliver nearly 40% more energy in a first demonstration article. With optimization efforts and a complete battery redesign, we anticipate being able to deliver much higher energy/power densities than the current offering while maintaining essential performance criteria (e.g., no internal leakage, rate capability, shelf life, etc.). Our technology further offers the ability to significantly improve the activation of legacy SOZ batteries (e.g., Eagle Picher Technologies, LLC, or EP, SE-437C) leading to improvements in activation time, homogeneity and completion of wetting. This will lead to increased reliability/durability. We anticipate the ability to lower the overall activation pressure of the existing system leading to improvements in energy density through the reduction in auxiliary component size and number.
