Research abstract

ADA Technologies is proposing advanced Lithium Sulfur (LiS) electrochemistry, which has capable of > 450 Wh/kg at the cell level to enable next-generation sensors, avionics and communication systems on next-generation hypersonic air platforms, including but not limited to glide vehicles, attritable systems and exquisite reusable platforms. In addition, our offering will support modernization and extension of advanced communication systems afforded by the AgilePod, aimed for Bomber & Fighter platform upgrades. In order to meet the energy density as well as space utilization needs for maximum power availability, ADA proposes a proprietary conformable, modular solution for an energy storage system based on advanced Li-S based cells. Our high energy density LiS chemistry can supply a revolutionary increase in pulse power capability, while affording wide operating temperature range and significant safety (meeting mission needs as described by this solicitation), resulting in a potential “order of magnitude” improvement in overall usable energy. Enhanced cycle life will be enabled by our STTR Partner, Argonne National Lab (ANL)’s proprietary electrolyte additives.
