Research abstract

MaXentric is proposing VERA, to meet the Navy’s need for a low EMR, HERO-safe, zero standoff Automatic Identification and Tracking technology. VERA employs the basic principles of RFID, but utilizes an innovative physical layer to achieve the Navy’s needs. The research and documentation of the development of this innovative physical layer enhancement is to be performed in Phase I. The unique propagation characteristics of VERA enables specialized applications, such as high security or dense reader deployment. Furthermore, VERA is well suited for a network architectures such as a dual WLAN/RFID infrastructure.
