Research abstract

Smart Contract Framework for Enhanced Supply Chain Visibility and ComplianceÝThe Department of Defense (DoD) faces significant challenges in maintaining visibility and compliance across its complex, multi-tier supply chains. PCN proposes an innovative approach to address these challenges through the development of a smart contract framework leveraging multiple technologies. The proposed solution aims to enhance supply chain visibility, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve overall supply chain resilience for the DoD, with a specific focus on the US Navy's Strategic Systems Programs (SSP). The framework implements the Commercial Trustô Protocol (CTP), which utilizes blockchain/Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), smart contracts, Verifiable Credentials (VC), and the Requirements, Incentives, Claims, and Evidence (RICEô) methodology. Key features include multi-tier supply chain visibility, automated compliance management, immutable record-keeping, selective data disclosure mechanisms, and integration of heterogeneous data sources. The system architecture includes three layers: organizations registering to and reading to the supply chain, RICEô methodology implementation, and smart contracts ensuring supply chain integrity. The proposed solution is expected to enhance end-to-end supply chain visibility, improve regulatory compliance and risk management, increase supply chain resilience and agility, reduce operational costs and human error, enhance product quality and authenticity verification, facilitate strategic and tactical insights, and streamline collaboration among supply chain stakeholders. This innovative framework offers a comprehensive solution to the DoD's supply chain visibility and compliance challenges, potentially enhancing strategic capabilities and operational effectiveness.ÝNo prior, current, or pending support for proposed work.
