Research abstract

Beast Code will meet NAVSEA’s critical needs in sustainment and operational readiness through the use of transformative digital twin technology. The current capabilities of the platform, Beast Core, include 3D model representations, aggregated data and documentation across disparate sources, and a lightweight and intuitive user interface, all designed to enhance the design, management, and maintenance of Naval assets. By the time Phase II is awarded, the software will also support the ability for users to update their own models and documentation, alleviating concerns of vendor lock and providing flexibility in execution. In Phase I, Beast Code will work closely with NAVSEA to identify specific use cases, defining a scalable and modular digital twin architecture that integrates seamlessly with existing Navy LogIT systems. Beast Code will incorporate its additive manufacturing user interface as a key enabler in the solutioning process with NAVSEA personnel.  A key component of this effort is the collaboration with REscan, whose advanced reality capture technology can be integrated into Beast Core to enable rapid, high-fidelity digitization of Naval ships, aircraft, weapons systems, and/or facilities. This technology allows for the creation of immersive, interactive digital environments with a robust digital thread of authoritative information that can be used to enhance situational awareness, training, and maintenance planning both ashore and afloat. The Phase I effort will focus on articulating the technical feasibility of these integrations, ensuring that Beast Core can support the Navy’s goals of reducing maintenance time, improving asset readiness, and responding swiftly to operational challenges in the Indo-Pacific theatre and across the globe.
