Research abstract

To meet the demands of the N23A-T028 “Broadband, High Power, Low Loss N-polar GaN Radio Frequency (RF) Switches” program, MaXentric team proposes the SWING (SWItches using a Nitrogen polar (N-polar) Gallium nitride (GaN) program. During Phase I, MaXentric team investigated simple topologies for W and 2-18GHz band. During Phase II, the team will evaluate the device test structures and circuits designed during Phase I.? Based on these informed evaluations, the team will re-design the circuits and expand the design investigations to more complex topologies and co-simulate the packaging with MMIC designs for W-band and 2-18GHz bandwidth applications. The circuits will be fabricated in the Phase II option. The circuits will then be assembled in modules and evaluated.  Toward Phase II end, the team will make a plan for developing and demonstrating switch prototypes for the selected applications. The selected applications include transmitters and receivers.
