Research abstract

Venus Aerospace proposes the development of a novel engine to enable routine hypersonic flight for meeting the defense needs of Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC).á In this effort Venus will expand on the preexisting engine testing by combining a Rotating Detonation Rocket Engine (RDRE) with outside air - called a Rocket Based Combined Cycle (RBCC). This effort will demonstrate how an RBCC will realize increases in fuel efficiency compared to an existing rocket engine while operating over a wider operating envelope than current hypersonic propulsion systems.
