Research abstract

Stell is a women-owned, government focused, venture-backed, software company providing requirements, documentation, and compliance software that focuses on delivering rapid capabilities to National Security and partner companies providing critical capabilities to strengthen the defense industrial base. Stell has successfully fielded commercial software that enables aerospace and defense contractors and their suppliers to manageá requirements digitally. Stell has garnered solid commercial traction which provides the needed ôhandshakeö between DoD offices and defense contractors.á Stellĺs focus for this SBIR is to adapt and strengthen our commercially deployed software technology to solve the challenges of mission integration of launch and space vehicles, particularly with mission requirements and compliance communication across the supplier base. In particular, Stell will use this D2P2 funding to adapt Stellĺs commercial solution for AATS to provide a user-friendly interface where the Space Force can collaborate with large defense contractors, innovative start ups, and commercial partners for mission integration of satellites to their launch vehicles. Stellĺs platform will interface with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) data and use this funding to build a critical integration capability into MBSE software CAMEO.á á For decades, a benign space environment drove an extremely obstructive mission assurance culture where high costs and long integration schedules were the norm. As a result, software that has rapidly evolved in other sectors has not been introduced into the aerospace systems engineering sector, causing aerospace and defense engineers to use outdated tools that limit the ability to be responsive. Now, the pace of hardware innovation must increase without compromising quality or mission assurance. Enter Stell: Stell wants to eliminate the ôsend a 100 page PDFö, ôreceive a 10,000 line excel sheet backö way of working and provide a central operating platform which connects the warfighter to the commercial vendors responsible for engineering and certification of the launch, spacecraft, and payload systems.á á Stellĺs requirements software will benefit the DAF with many major and minor Programs of Record (POR) found within AFMC, AFLCMC, National Labs, and Space Systems Command.á The initial effort will be working with AATS to bridge their requirements traceability, product acceptance, and mission assurance within a software that connects the Directorate to the launch service provider.á Stell helps teams generate a collaborative, digital version of the Specification documents that can be shared with commercial partners for fast and simple compliance workflows.á á Stellĺs proposed new software platform offers several critical capabilities that enable:á 1. Rapid Requirement Management 2. Compliance Tracking 3. Risk Management 4. Validation and Verification Tracking 5. Collaboration Across DoD and Contractors
