Research abstract

Maxentric proposed solution for improved 5G indoor coverage operates as an overlay, standing independently from the 5G system's inherent radio resource management functions. It uses performance data from both end-users and base stations, feeding this information into an IRIS control function that adaptively adjusts elements of intelligent reflective surfaces (IRS). By integrating intelligent reflecting surfaces, reinforcement learning, and seamless compatibility with existing architectures like DRA, Maxentric’s solution offers a potentially powerful means of enhancing 5G coverage and capacity. The proposed technology leverages the built-in MIMO capability of the 5G system, modifying the environment itself to optimize the system's adaptivity. Unlike traditional systems like DAS or DRA, the IRIS solution is designed to "push" the system into its optimal operating region, actively adapting to environmental conditions. This forms an outer control loop that operates in conjunction and in concert with the inherent adaptivity in a 5G MIMO system.
