Research abstract

The latest Government Accountability Office (GAO) report has revealed shocking facts about issues plaguing the sustainability of operations that is keeping military planes grounded. This report reveals grim realities of grounded US Military aircraft at a time when the US is lagging China in the hypersonic race. Within the Aircraft MX community Shadow IT is rampant - Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, handwritten notes on clipboards, logbooks are the source of truth, and emails are being used as workarounds because the software provided to airmen is insufficient to meet mission requirements. Additionally, this poor technology inhibits Tesseract to scale its Theory of Constraints process re-engineering vision across the Air Force.  The USAF Tesseract program is responsible for developing, modernizing, and deploying capabilities for aircraft maintenance units leveraging the Theory of Constraints (ToC) to maximize sortie generation efficiency. Tesseract is bringing Airmen on board to help modernize the way the Air Force develops and sustains software. Tesseract is focusing on shifting the logistics IT software development strategy away from platform-centric and monolithic legacy software systems and towards developing and sustaining an interconnected network of cloud-native microservice applications.
